REQUEST – SONY PICTURES AND ZOMBIELAND PRODUCTIONS LLC – FILM
SEVERAL MOVIE SCENES AT SPECIFIC LOCATION
CITY OF NEWNAN, GEORGIA
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 27, 2009
Norm Bielowicz, Assistant Location Manager – Sony Pictures and Zombieland
Productions, LLC request to film several movie scenes in Newnan on March 29 at specific locations stated that they are on a good track; they have spoken with several impacted churches (1st United Methodist and Presbyterian Church on Greenville) and thinks that everybody is happy with the plans so far. They continue to talk to some of the merchants that are going to be impacted and everybody seems to be on board. They added Wilcoxin Street which will happen Sunday morning and are in conversation with the Chief to be sure it can be done with the least impact on residents. The residents will have access in and out of their property and the film company will talk with those folks so they will be aware, too. He said that they need to add once scene that would get their heroes out of Newnan, so at the end of the day they plan to have a second film crew which will be filming a car leaving Newnan. They hope to do that on LaGrange Street at the overpass and they won’t need to close the street, it is a very simple shot. Set up and all should take no more than an hour and traffic impeded by stop and go – they will only shoot the scene 3 – 4 times and each time will have to hold traffic for maybe 3 or 4 minutes to get the shot made. Chief Meadows recommended there be certified police officers at each of the four major points of the detour directing traffic: Spring/Greenville, Spring/Perry, East Broad/Perry and East Broad/South Court Square. Mr. Bielowicz stated their next step is with GDOT requirements. They may pull one detour from Greenville Street back to
Salbide; and Bielowicz expects to know by Friday or Monday. He said they will have the police officers at the detours and probably a floater officer to make sure anybody working through the detour doesn’t have a problem. Motion by Councilman DuBose, seconded by Councilwoman Jenkins, to approve filming in
Newnan as requested.
MOTION CARRIED. (UNANIMOUSLY)
Mr. Bielowicz wanted to go on record commenting on just how helpful folks in Newnan have been up to this point. He said it’s been a terrific experience for everybody.

Anyone have any recent filming info on this one? The only thing I am aware of is a huge abandoned car lot scene on the 18th but I have no idea where. Would love to resume Woddy Search 2009 asap.
